This is short for Gothic, as in Gothic novels like
Frankenstein and Count Dracula, which feature moody,
pale charcters with spooky stuff happening to them. Goth entails
vampire fashions, gloomy, emotional music, and clove cigarettes. Clove
cigs are even more toxic than tobacco, and more immediately dangerous.
If you pass out, no real goth would stoop to give you CPR - the
position is ridiculous, goths don't sweat, and anyway death is okay.

The above may be accurate but it isn't terribly helpful in the task of identifying goths when you meet them so I here's an easy identifier type thing, Stolen shamelessly from Angst Boy which had a helpful guide to "What is a Goth" which I've nicked and put here. But basically it seems to be a pale person with a lot of black..but for more detail here is a guide to your typical goth....honest.

Hell if I know. I could never tell the difference. They're interchangable.
