Gravity

Watching your joy together
in places I've never known
I wonder why you remain
with one such as I.

What holds you fast within
my cold passionless home?
When other wonders
delight you so.

Do you stay for my sake,
loathe to leave any behind
in the frozen solitude
of these desolate plains?

Do you recall my younger days
when I was other than I am
some other life when brighter suns
lit my heart and stirred my limbs

Is it for remembrance sake
that you linger still
hopeful for some far off spring
to awaken sleeping dreams

Then for our joint remembrance
leave this desolate hearth
and then in future times of joy
recall me here and wish me well
