Then Bob thought a while and gave this general solution for all short circuited cards
Why not just un short it,
on modern cards shorts normally produce tell tale gold
or silver tracks showing where damage occurred due to the short. Just get some
sandpaper or wire wool, and rub off all those "damage report" tracks and it should
work. Make sure you do the final rub down with wire wool with the card installed in
your computer just so that all the tracks are gone. Turn the PC back on first as the
power supply will make sure that all the tracks are visible. Any crackling or sparks
or smell of ozone is just due to the card self checking after the damage report
tracks have been cleared.
